VituixCAD on a Mac? Crover as a browser alternative
Kimmo Saunisto's VituixCAD is one of the most powerful free tools for loudspeaker designers – and a Windows program. On a Mac that leaves a virtual machine or a compatibility layer. Crover runs in the browser. What each of them does, compared honestly:

What VituixCAD does better today
VituixCAD works with measurements at many angles: listening window, power response, directivity index and predicted in-room response (per CTA-2034) – and optimises the crossover for those targets. It adds tools for baffle diffraction, enclosures and merging near- and far-field measurements, plus active crossovers. If that is how you work, VituixCAD serves you better; Crover can't do most of it (yet) – its enclosure planner is an Alpha.
What Crover offers
- Runs in the browser – on a Mac, on Linux and on the iPad at the listening position, no VM, nothing to install.
- Work together: share a project with a link, changes appear live, with versions and a history per part.
- An assistant that sees your circuit, measurements and simulation and runs variants before it suggests them – you decide.
- XSim import: open .dxo projects, embedded FRD/ZMA files included.
- Clear phase handling: measured or derived, shown per driver, the offset is never counted twice.
Taking your data along
The on-axis (FRD) and impedance (ZMA) measurements you use in VituixCAD are text files Crover reads directly. Crover does not use off-axis measurements yet. You redraw the circuit in Crover; Crover cannot open VituixCAD projects.
Try Crover with your measurements
Start as a guest, load FRD/ZMA and tune the crossover live.
